With midfield dynamo Rino Gattuso out injured until April, Beckham cannot ride to the rescue soon enough. The 33-year-old former England captain is due to be officially unveiled at the San Siro stadium next week at the start of his loan from LA Galaxy.

The Italian media say he and wife Victoria will stay in a £1,000-a-night penthouse suite at the luxury Chedi Hotel, close to the stadium.

Beckham could find himself joined on the newboys’ roster by Brazilian Thiago Silva, who flew to Milan yesterday to discuss a move.

The 24-year-old Fluminense centre back had been linked with Chelsea, but yesterday’s development suggests his next port of call is Italy.

The imminent arrivals will brighten the picture for Milan, who saw Kaka and Arsenal old boy Mathieu Flamini injured yesterday as Clarence Seedorf made his 300th Serie A appearance.

Juventus, with Manchester City target Gianluigi Buffon again an injury absentee, were 3-1 up by half-time through Alessandro del Piero, Giorgio Chiellini and Amauri, with Alexandre Pato replying for Milan.

“Oh, c’mon, they’re not that hard to walk in,” she admonishes as I masochistically try them on (after a bemused-looking housekeeper fetches them from Victoria’s closet). “They’re not uncomfortable! Victoria Beckham has told Harper’s Bazaar magazine she now feels so comfortable being photographed she’s even able to muster a smile. “I used to get so nervous, and when I got on the red carpet I’d freeze up. I have started smiling. I’ve mastered this smirk. It’s a smile that isn’t a smile,” she explained.

“The older you get, the more comfortable you become with yourself, and you accept what you have physically. Also, the fact that my [fashion] business is doing very well makes me feel a little more confident, too.”[/lang_en]

A source said: “He looked a bit anxious and I think he was texting Victoria and the kids before he jumped. His friends were all laughing and giving the countdown.

“But then, when he was pulled up after his first go, he was raving about it. He was so excited he wanted to go again straight away. They made the bungee cord a bit longer so he went right into the water.”

David – who did the jump wearing just a pair of jeans and trainers – was said to be so thrilled with the experience that he bought a souvenir video to show his friends.

The source added to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “He watched himself on it then took it home to show the family. I’m sure he wants them all to know how brave he was.”[/lang_en]

[lang_en]VICTORIA and DAVID BECKHAM were reportedly at the centre of a roadside scuffle this weekend (06-07Dec08) when the couple’s bodyguards squared up to the paparazzi.

The soccer stud is said to have exited his car in Los Angeles on Sunday (07Dec08) to confront a pursuing photographer. After the snapper refused to leave his vehicle, Beckham reportedly returned to his car and drove away with his wife, while the couple’s bodyguards went over and continued the dispute.

A brawl subsequently broke out, according to E! Online, and was attended by L.A. police.

A source tells E! Online, “They started fighting right in front of the police station… the bodyguards and the paparazzi started fighting. David went back to his car and he and Victoria drove off…The cops finally came and broke it up.”

Police have confirmed no one was arrested or injured during the incident.

Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman Sgt. Gregg Mader says, “We took a report at the scene, but no one was taken into custody or cited. We’ll review what we have to see if further action needs to be taken.”

Victoria Beckham is rumoured to have had significant help designing her new collection by established French designer Roland Mouret claims the Daily Mail. Sources say fashion insiders, many of whom gave Posh’s collection positive reviews, have noticed many similarities between Victoria and Roland’s dresses. “The similarities between the dresses are undeniable,” an unamed source at Mouret’s office told the paper. “It’s been a bit of a joke as to how much Roland has been involved.

We have all been convinced that Roland and Victoria must be in some kind of a business arrangement.” However, a spokesman for Victoria insists everything is above board, “Roland set Victoria up with his pattern cutter and also introduced her to his fabric suppliers.” They explained. “The seamstress atelier in Battersea was introduced to Victoria via Roland – they are a couture atelier looking after many London-based designers. There is no secret Roland has helped Victoria set up various aspects of her atelier in London.” Interestingly both Victoria and Roland Mouret are represented by Simon Fuller at 19 management.[/lang_en]
