[lang_en]Rocker Pete Doherty is hoping his solo career will receive a big boost if starts taking style inspiration from former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

The Babyshambles singer loves the former Spice Girl’s fashion sense and believes he will be taken more seriously as a solo artist if he copies her style.

A source said: “Pete’s been besotted with Victoria’s military style recently. When he sees such images he remembers similar clothes he wore when he was in The Libertines.

“He hopes if he follows her style it will inject some much-needed respectability into his image so his solo career is taken seriously.”

Victoria was recently criticised for donning a leather chauffer-style cap, with matching grey suede jacket, but the ‘Time For Heroes’ rocker has leapt to her defence.

Pete, 29, said: “I think Victoria looks very sharp. She’s a very stylish lady and I really like her hats. I mean that.”

Despite his unkempt and messy appearance and drugs-ravaged looks, Pete – who previously dated supermodel Kate Moss – has regularly won praise for his sense of style by fashion critics and after modelling for fashion label Gio-Goi was even asked to design his own collection.

A source for the brand said at the time: “Peter looks fantastic as a model. We are very excited. We look forward to having Pete’s influence as a rock icon in the design process.”

Pete’s Spring/Summer 2007 collection included colourful t-shirts with slogans such as ‘Drug Free’ and ‘Too Much Rock and Roll’.[/lang_en]
